About Janna

JANNA SMALL (pronounced jon-a) is a self taught jeweler, artist, maker, creator, wanderer, and explorer. After many years of living in different parts of the country, Janna settled in Southwest Colorado, with her husband Scott, to pursue a full-time career creating jewelry.

Working with natural materials, and drawing inspiration from the colors and shapes of the rocks she finds, Janna crafts simple, bold, jewelry with a twist.

Janna’s jewelry making path began at the age of 18 with seed bead necklaces. Her pieces evolved into simple wire work where she developed the swirly style found in many of her designs today.

In constant need of change, and looking to grow her skills as a jeweler, she acquired the knowledge to expand into silversmithing and then lapidary. Along with her love for silversmithing, Janna enjoys the process of cutting her own stones, eager to explore what’s inside each rock. Her current obsession is creating minimalist pieces where the stone is the focus.

An early riser, Janna usually wakes before sunrise, grabs a coffee, and gets to work in her “A Little Twisted” studio just steps from her kitchen. When she is not in her studio creating, Janna enjoys roaming the desert trails and hiking in the mountains with her two dogs, rock-hounding with her brother, solo traveling, visiting national parks, and long distance hikes with friends.
